KIRBY. Clara (Leyonborg) Kirby, 88, of Manchester, widow of the late Donald J. Kirby, died Wednesday (March 1, 1995) at an area convalescent home. She was born in Hartford, Oct. 5, 1906, and had lived in Manchester since 1944. She was a graduate of Gorham State Teachers College in Maine, and a graduate of Columbia University in New York City. Before retirement in 1971, Mrs. Kirby was an elementary school teacher for the Manchester Board of Education, having taught at the former Hollister Street School and previously taught at Westfield Teachers College for 16 years. She attended Emanuel Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Kirby is survived by a daughter, Betty Kirby of Manchester. Private services and burial will be in Hunt Memorial Cemetery, Liberty, Maine, at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
